Dev Log 7 - 2023-11-02 to 2023-11-15
This week we focused on refining the overall game. Added some screens such as the menu, revamped player select, added countdowns, fixed some bugs and added in the train functionality.
Tasks Completed
- Fixed bug with start screen lighting
- Fixed bug that affected timer size and placement
- Fixed bug regarding highlighting
- Added fade in fade out between levels
- Revamped player select
- Added new assets to main menu
- Added countdown to player select
- Fixed end screen button
- Death is now at 0 remaining hats
- Added SFX to the respective mixer
- Added in new cacti assets (new textures aswell!)
- Added player colours
- Added player indicators
- Added new TRAIN event - Out n In
- Added new TRAIN event - Peak
Challenges
- Faced a weird bug where the collider on the train detected players in the sense that the player couldn’t walk through it, however it didn’t detect onCollisionEnter events.
- Faced issue with highlighting to find MeshRenders because of the nesting of prefabs, some are nested deep in the prefab and some are on the top level
- Getting to run timed events was tricky to figure it out
- Coroutines are hard to work with
